INFORMATION TO PATIENTS
The surgeons at the Geneva Knee Center are able to treat all patients, regardless of their type of insurance. You can therefore make an appointment at our consultation, and in the event of surgery we will have a solution for every patient. We are also accredited by other Geneva clinics.

Partial knee replacement (unicompartmental knee arthroplasty - UKA)

Introduction : partial knee prosthesis is also known as "unicompartmental knee arthroplasty" (UKA). This is a targeted operation, recommended when only one compartment of the knee is damaged and non-surgical solutions have not provided any relief.

Aim of the surgery : the aim of the operation is to remove the damaged joint parts and replace them with a prosthetic implant. This prosthesis is made up of metal elements anchored to the bone, with a polyethylene interface between them to articulate the artificial joint.

Implantation techniques :

Personalised cutting guides : a scanner is used to obtain a 3D image of the knee. The surgeon can then adjust the modelling, before a unique cutting guide is made and used on the day of the procedure.

Robotic technology : robotic assistance for this type of surgery offers a clear advantage. The robotic arm provides excellent bone cutting precision. The robot provides an analysis of the movement of the knee during the surgery and gives the opportunity to the surgeon to make the necessary adjustments to obtain the best result.

The Geneva Knee Centre’s commitment : this centre is committed to offering cutting-edge procedures, combining expertise and innovation to guarantee the best possible results.
Follow-up and progress are monitored by collecting data (scores) which give an objective visualisation of each patient's progress.
